Jerry Davis, 68, of Grand Island died on Sunday, November 29, 2015.
Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Military honors will be rendered by the United Veterans Honor Guard and U.S. Navy. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will take place at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Grandview Cemetery in Long Pine, NE. All Faiths Funeral Home

Jerry was born on April 16, 1947 In Bassett, son of Dale and LeOta “Mikie” (Kesselhuth) Davis.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years, Connie of Grand Island; children, Brandon (Barb) Davis of Grand Island, Christon (Ricardo) Mancias of FL, Lori (Leopoldo) Martinez of Grand Island, Brenton Davis of Grand Island, Amy (Paul) Galda of Grand Island; father, Dale Davis; brother, Lonnie (Annette) Davis of Grand Island; sisters, Bonnie (Joe) Watkins of Grand island, Yolonda Davis and special friend, Chris Dowell of Colorado Springs; grandchildren, Preston, Joliegh and Bella Davis, Michael and close friend Lindsey, Anna, Isabel, Matthew, Nyellie, Kaylee, Natalie, Jacob Martinez, Nickolas, Nakira and Cerulean Davis; brothers-in-law, Kenny Wood and Monte Wood, both of York; sisters –in-law, Sheryl (Kelly) Rutherford of Atlanta, IA, Vicki (Dan) Varvra of Dorchester, NE; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends; and soon to be, two great grand children.
He is preceded in death by his mother, LeOta “Mikie” Davis.
Jerry grew up in many small towns in Nebraska, including: Bassett, Wolbach, Ord, and Stromsburg. In 1965 he graduated from Benedict High School. Following High School, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy on February 15, 1967. He served on the BonHamme Richard Aircraft Carrier until being honorably discharged on November 11, 1970.
On November 29, 1970 he was united in marriage to Connie Wood in York. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Wood River until purchasing their grandparents’ rental house in Grand Island, where they have lived ever since.
Jerry was employed by Monford Packing Plant in the Maintenance Department for twenty years. In recent years he worked at Goodwill as the Supervisor in the Maintenance Department.
Starting at a young age, Jerry was a gifted artist and wood carver. He spent many hours carving wooden sculptures and steel spears and daggers. Jerry was very precise in all his artwork, but especially with his beaded pieces. He was a caring father and grandfather who adored his family.
