William Joe Davidson Sr., age 79, lately of Hilliard, Ohio, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, due to complications of dementia. He was born in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., on Jan. 26, 1927, to the late Annie Blanche (Hatcher) and Tom Lee. Bill served in the Army in World War II and later graduated with a Masters from Peabody University. He worked for many years in Atlanta as a high school teacher and guidance counselor. He later moved to Florence to be closer to his aging parents and became a broker with A.G. Edwards. He loved talking with people, dining out and traveling; he traveled around the world in his youth and later took his wife on a trip to Japan. He was a member of the Elks, the VFW and a former officer and active member of the Exchange Club. Bill is preceded in death by wife of 18 years, Maudie Lee (Bennett) and sister, Martha Jane; he is survived by son, William "Billy" Joe Jr.; and grandson, Thaddeus Lawrence. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 15, at Greenview Memorial Chapel, 3657 Old Chisholm Road, Florence. Visitation hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following. Interment will be at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., after the memorial service. In keeping with Bill's love of playing Santa, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, those who wish contribute to the Marines Toys for Tots drive, in Mr. Davidson's memory.
