COLORADO CITY ~~ Savanna Mae Daughtrey, 84, of Colorado City, died Saturday in the Root Valley Fair Lodge following a short illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church.
The Reverend Caddo Mathews, pastor of Plainview Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Born February 27, 1893, in Angelina County, Mrs. Daughtrey moved to Mitchell County in 1909. She married Thomas William Daughtrey November 21, 1909 in Mitchell County. He preceded her in death in October 1963. She was a member of the Plainview Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. J. C. Barkley, Jr. of Colorado City, Mrs. Norman Brown of Fort Worth, Mrs. George Bryant of Ontario, California, and Mrs. Tommy Williams of Temple; three sons, Oswald Daughtrey of Abilene, T. W. Daughtrey, Jr. of Grant, New Mexico and Marion Daughtrey of Temple; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Harvey of Lufkin and Gertrude Daughtrey of Midland; three brothers, Hollis Brookshire and Jack Brookshire, both of Colorado City, and Ezra Brookshire of Bowie; and 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
