Benita was born in Muskogee, OK to Jack W. and Lois Pierce Thomas. PID by her parents, and sister, Jackie Thomas Kennedy. Her family moved to Texas before her teen years, settling first in Galveston and then Houston in 1953. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy, Class of 1954, and attended the University of St. Thomas.She loved music; she played the piano, studied voice, and enjoyed performances at Jones Hall, Hobby Center and Wortham Center. Mass of Christian Burial held on Tuesday, September 2, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer. Rites of Committal followed at Garden of Gethsemani at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
