Harold Raymond Curtis, North Aurora, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Edward Hospital, Naperville. He was born June 16, 1932, in Aurora, son of Erwin and Elsie Curtis. He was married to Marion Fredrickson for 54 years.
Harold graduated from East Aurora High School. He served in the Army Security Agency from 1952 to 1955 where he was deployed to Germany to monitor radio communications. He was promoted to sergeant in recognition of his extraordinary service.
Following his military service he attended Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, and worked at Van Straaten Chemical Co. as a chemist. He later joined Eby-Brown Company, holding several positions including salesman until retiring after over 30 years of service.
He loved children, fishing, wildlife, playing the guitar and singing. He served with the Boy Scouts where he received the Burton service award. He loved God and raised his children in the local church, The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in North Aurora. He served in choir, several committees and as vice chairman of the elders.
He is survived by a family that professes the saving work of Jesus Christ, his beloved wife, Marion of North Aurora; sons, Paul (Roxanne) of Batavia, David (Pamela) of Crystal Lake, and Wendell of North Aurora; grandchildren, Melissa, Heather and Brandon; and nephews Ronald (Carol) and Richard (Venida) Hauser, James (Nia) Klein, and nieces Constance (Randy) Sondalle, Elizabeth, Katherine, and Susan Huss.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Hauser.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13th at Batavia Covenant Church, 1314 Main Street, Batavia.
The family will receive guests from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
Interment will be private at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
