Jay and Dora Cunningham adopted Benny Joe, Norman, and Irvin Patrick Seitz when they were small children. (My research leads me to believe that it might have been in the very early 1930’s.) Their biological parents are Henry Edward Seitz and Grace Estelle Arnold. Both Henry and Grace were alive when the children were adopted and it is unknown what the circumstances are that lead to these children being placed for adoption. I found Henry Edward Seitz in the 1940 census listed as divorced, so it’s possible that Henry and Grace split and neither wanted to care for the youngest children. At this time, my research does not have these answers.
