Louise married Steve Latimer on May 21, 1952 in Tuskegee, AL. She received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Al in 1954. In 1967 Louise received her Master of Education in Guidance and Personnel Services from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. Louise attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK and received her Doctor of Education in Higher Education with emphasis in English in 1977. She was a member of Oklahoma Council of Teachers of English, College Language Association, Higher Education Alumni Council, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Decogynian Club.
Louise had lived in Langston since 1966 and was a member of the Holy Family Episcopal Church in Langston.
Survivors include her 2 sons Steve Latimer and wife Cynthia of Fair Oaks, CA and Ronald Latimer of Oklahoma City, daughter Gail Latimer of Edmond, brother in law Bradley Black of Tuskegee, AL, step granddaughter Ann Wasser of Monterey, CA, grandson Damian Latimer of Sandusky, OH and cousin Clarence Smallwood of Lexington, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Steve in 2003.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Guthrie with Father Jasper officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM.
