MEMPHIS - Lucille Godfrey, 90, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, in Childress.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. O.K. Bowen, retired minister, and the Rev. Daniel Downey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis.

Lucille was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Hollis, Okla., to the late Ed and Bess Brewer Crump. She moved to Memphis as a young girl and later graduated from Memphis High School. She married J.P. Godfrey. He preceded her in death in June 1984.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the choir. She was a member of the Hall County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Dub Crump, Bud Crump, Joe Crump, Wiley Crump and an infant brother who died in early childhood.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Collins and husband Butch of Memphis and LuGay Chiang and husband Gary of Plano; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Shepherd of Houston.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Fellowship Hall Building Fund, First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 726, Memphis, TX 79245.
