Obituary from the Fairbury Blade newspaper, Illinois, dated Friday, March 25, 1932:
Elizabeth Jane, second daughter of Patton and Suzanne Wilson, was born in Adams Co., Ohio, August 1851, and died at the home of her son, George, in Colorado Springs, Colorado on January 16, 1932.
Her childhood until six years of age was lived in southern Ohio, when in 1857, her parents emigrated to Illinois and settled in the Village of Pleasant Hill, in McLean Co., now known as Selma.
At eighteen years of age she married to John Henry Crumbaker, the oldest son of William and Margaret Crumbaker. Mr. Wilson was a blacksmith by trade.
For eighteen years Mrs. Crumbaker resided on the farm north of Fairbury. Following the death of Mr. Crumbaker, she made her home with her son in this state until three years ago when she went to Colorado, to the home of her son, George.
Eight children were born to this marriage: two daughters and six sons. Both daughters, Carrie May and Nettie Catherine, died in early childhood. Four sons are still living: Victor Allen of Peoria; David Theodore of Detroit, Michigan; Jonas Kaler of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and George Retser of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The two sons who preceded are: William Spir who died in Indiana some years ago and John Patton, who died in California last spring.
While Mrs. Crumbaker just passed her 81st birthday last August, she is the sixth of her parents family of ten children to lay down life's burden. Those preceding her are sisters, Mesdames Hestor Jones, Mattie McCormick, Ella McMullen and her two brothers: William and Charles. Those still living are: Mesdames Mary Fitzhenary, Alice Shotwell, Nannie Barrett and Stella Yates.
The remains were brought here to the John P. Cook Funeral Home. Interment was in the Avoca cemetery.
