A Young and Beautiful Woman Who Possessed a Legion of Friends--A Resident of Rockford for Five Years--Leaves Three Children to Mourn Her Loss.
In the fall-tide of splendid womanhood, loved and loving and surrounded by all that makes life dear, Mrs. Haskell A. Crumb passed away to solve the great mystery. Afflicted with a tumor for several years, an operation was performed Tuesday. She bore the ordeal bravely, and as the operation was successfully performed, her recovery was hoped for. But a hemorrhage set in, the patient slowly sank, and last night at 5 o'clock her spirit flew to its maker. Conscious almost up to the last moment, she spoke hopefully and encouragingly to her loved ones, and approached the end like one who wraps the drapery of the couch about her and lays down to pleasant dreams.
The deceased has resided in Rockford the past five years and was the wife of Haskell A. Crumb, the well known lumber dealer. She was almost 30 years old and leaves three children, aged respectively 3, 5 and 7 years.
The deceased was a beautiful woman. Beautiful in face, form and character. Possessing the sweetest and most kindly disposition, those who knew her loved her and admired her for her many sterling traits of character. She suffered without complaint, and dying she was assured of an entrance into the house not made with hands. A noble woman has gone, and 'tis at least a consolation for those left behind that many friends will hold her in kindly remembrance. The husband and children will have the sympathy of the community in their irreparable loss.
