Prairie City - Chester W. Crowl, 74, of Prairie City died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1992, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
Born Jan. 25, 1918, in London Mills to Otto and Pearl Moore Crowl, he married Verda Freburg on Sept. 15, 1973, in Bushnell.
She survives, along with one son, Stanley of Peoria; five daughters, Carol Roe, Catherine Butler, Peggy Brady and Brenda Harris, all of London Mills, and Joyce Roberts of Windsor, Colo.; three stepsons, Rex Freburg of Golden, Colo., David Freburg of Normal and Todd Freburg of Las Vegas; two stepdaughters, Mary Frances Clark of Lawrenceville, N. J., and Amy Taylor of Galesburg; two brothers, John of Bushnell and Jim of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Thurman of Prairie City and Harriett John of Macomb; several grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
He was water superintendent of Avon, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and Shaw Creek Golf Club, both in Bushnell.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at his church. The Rev. David Kurt will officiate. Calling hours will be after 2 p.m. today, and visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight, with a Scripture service at 8 p.m., both at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell. Burial will be in Prairie City Cemetery.
