Mrs. Edith Crosse Chase, 88, mother of Sun Prairie Mayor Theodore W Chase, died Friday, Feb. 23, 1973 in Raddison. She was a lifelong resident of Sun Prairie. Her husband, Ben died in 1931. Mrs. Chase was a member of the United Methodist Church and its Women's Society, a life member of the Twilight Chapter of the Eastern Star and a member of its Past Matrons Club and 50 Year Club; a member o the Sun Prairie Historical Museum Assn., and the Sun Prairie Garden Club. She was an honorary member of the Twentieth Century Women's Club, and had served on the Library Board and Cemetery Assn. Board for many years. In addition to her son, Mrs. Chase is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Darwin Virchow, Sun Prairie; Mrs. M. E Wyant, Hayward; Mrs. Clarence W. Maley; Millington, TN; Mrs. Edna Lyster, Sun Prairie; and Mrs. Clifford Anthon, Denver, CO; 21 grandchildren; and 49 great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Tuschen Funeral Home, where friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Robert J. Firary of the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church will officiate Monday, and burial will be in the Sun Prairie City Cemetery. Members of the Eastern Star will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
