Mrs. Crosby, beloved mother and grandmother, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Born in Smoaks, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Ollie and Mary Warren Taylor. Mrs. Crosby knew how to love and loved well. She showed her love by blessing her family and friends with hospitality, delicious food, time care, a listening ear and willing helping hands. Her grandchildren enjoyed being spoiled by her and her affection. They knew they were loved. Mrs. Crosby's love was self-sacrificing, evident by her retiring from her job of 35 years at Piggly Wiggly to take care of her husband who was ill. As President of the United Methodist Women at St. James UMC and a longtime member, she was actively involved in the various charities and activities at the church. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was always helping a friend or family member. Mrs. Crosby will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her children, Elaine Green and W. Berry Crosby; grandchildren, Melanie Green, Charity Cayton, Gordon E. Green III (Shun); grandson-in-law, Daniel Cayton; great-grandchildren, Drew Green, Lily Cayton, Benjamin Cayton and Joshua Peters. She was predeceased by her husband, Berry E. Crosby.
