A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church Highlands, 210 N. Magnolia, Highlands, Texas, on Friday, March 9, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. with viewing and visitation at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012, with burial to follow after the visitation.
Viola Maidee Cotten Crook was born on Tuesday, October 31, 1911, to Rev. J.D. and N.K. (Earthman) Cotten and was the 13th of 14 children. She entered her heavenly rest on Monday, March 5, 2012.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her infant son, Stanley, husband, W.T., grandsons; Mark Kerr and David Kerr and son-in-law Donald Gene Kerr.
She is survived by her daughters, Karlyne Kerr of Hewitt, Texas, Nancy Kay Stewart and husband Harry of Highlands, Texas. Grandchildren; Karen and Reggie Craig, Connie and Dale Strawhaun, Rhonda and Jeff Kirk, Darrell Stewart and Rita Eby; 16 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews she loved so much.
Viola was always active in her church and in her community. She received numerous awards and honors. She loved working as a volunteer for many years at the Beaumont Nutrition Center.
After leaving Beaumont, she quickly adapted to her new life in Baytown and enjoyed her days at Remington Park Assisted Living Facility. It was a very happy and rewarding time in her life. This past year she moved to St. James House where she was living at her passing.

Magnolia, Highlands, Texas, on Friday, March 9, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. with viewing and visitation at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012, with burial to follow after the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Viola may be given to the Prayer Garden at FBC Highlands, 210 N. Magnolia, Highlands, Texas 77562.
We wish to thank everyone who made her life so happy these last seven years.
