Woody is survived by his brothers Jack, Bud and Don, sister Flo Sandlin, sister-in-law Lou Creel (widow of Win Creel) and daughter Marsha Creel Brown (James). He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Lavada Baggett Creel, their son Richard Lee, his brother Win and his sisters Barbara Peaden and Mary Creel.

Woody was born March 17, 1919 in Pensacola, Florida and lived most of his life in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. Throughout his career as a home builder and developer, Woody served First Baptist Church of Pensacola and his community. As a life long member of First Baptist Church, Woody taught Sunday School and Training Union for over 20 years. He also served proudly as a Deacon Emeritus. His generosity was unlimited and touched many lives. He gave and loved unselfishly. Woody's commitment to others was unwavering; a few examples of this are the unmatched personal time and financial commitment to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, 90 & 9 Boys Ranch, St. Jude's Hospital, Samaritan Hands, Baptist Hospital Board of Directors, Baptist Healthcare Foundation, Pensacola Children's Chorus and countless local residents in need.

Woody enjoyed traveling the world with his loving wife, gardening, taking care of his cherished fruit trees, flowers, fish and most of all spending time with his daughter and family.

The family will receive friends at Pleitz Chapel at First Baptist Church of Pensacola, 500 N. Palafox St. Tuesday, February 12 at 1:00pm followed by the service at 2:00pm. Committal following at Bayview Fisher-Pou.

Pallbearers will be Justin Brown, Josh Broxson, Daniel Wisler, Tom Aldridge, Brett Janson and Bill Janson.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the residents and staff ("his Angels") at The Blake of Gulf Breeze and Emerald Coast Hospice for their amazing love, care and kindness to him, our grandmother and us. The family would also like to extend special gratitude to The Blake director, Barbara Scheurer and his hospice nurse, Sharon McGaugh, who loved and cared for him as their own.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that in memory of Woody's lifelong devotion of helping others; please donate to your favorite charity.

Woody was a kind and loving person who loved the Lord. He will be greatly missed and remembered always by family and friends.
