Franklin C. Creeden, 91, of Riverview Drive, Manistique, Michigan died August 6, 2012 at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.

He was born November 25, 1920 in Gulliver, Michigan the son of James and Josephine (Leny) Creeden and attended school there. He was a graduate of Manistique High School and continued his education at St. Johns University in Minneapolis.

During World War II, Frank served in the U.S. Army, European Theatre, as a signal technician/radio operator.

On February 8, 1946 he married the former Leocadia "Sis" Olesak in Manistique. They made their home and raised their family in Manistique. Sis preceded him in death on January 1, 2006.

Frank was employed as an oiler and night watchman at the Inland Lime and Stone Company in Gulliver for 39 years.

He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique and the Schoolcraft County V.F.W. Post #4420. He enjoyed golfing, reading, wood work, dogs & cats, planting a garden, listening to country music, and playing cards & games, especially with the grandchildren. He loved a good joke, loved to laugh, and take a ride to Leach's Camp.

Frank is survived by his children, Anne "Vicki" Washburn of Burlington, VT, Maureen (Jerry) Leach of Manistique, Rosemary "Doogie" (Terry) Cox of Lake Chelan, WA, Mary "Marce" (Bruce) Creeden of Circle Pines, MN and Andrew (Kathy Kloss) Creeden of Republic; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Creeden; and his sister, Ruth McCarthy.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 11:30 am, Friday, August 10, 2012 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am, Friday, at the church with Father Glenn Theoret officiating. A luncheon will follow at the parish center.

Burial with veteran honors will be held at the Hiawatha Township Cemetery in Hiawatha Township.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility Activities Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association.
