CONCORD - Louise Crayton Burris, 85, of 9560 Poplar Tent Road, our beloved Mother, passed away on Aug. 25, 2010, at the Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House after 10 months of declining health, due to a stroke.

She was born on Dec.17, 1924, in Cabarrus County to the late Richard Ames Crayton and Mahalie Lambert Crayton. She was a member of Mission Baptist Church in Locust. Mrs. Burris worked for Hugh Grey Hosiery and Penn Carol in her earlier years and then became a home maker. During her retirement, she loved sewing and dressing baby dolls. She dressed dolls for a lot of people and never charged them because she loved to sew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis E. Burris and two brothers, Jess and Jack Crayton, and six sisters, Autie Ross, Gertie McCellan, Beatrice Hinson, Gladys Burris, Mary Lou Cline, and Naomi Eudy.

Survivors include, her two daughters, Teresa Roberts (Ronnie) and Karen Damewood (Mike); two sons, Randy Burris (Paulette) and Bernie Burris (Barbara); and one step daughter, Diane Mullis (Ronnie). She has 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burris is also survived by one half sister, Virginia Linker, of Mount Pleasant; three half brothers, Richard and Johnny (Jake) Crayton, of Concord and Charlie Crayton, of Rockwell.

Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 28th at 2 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in the chapel with the Rev. Darrell Coble officiating. Burial will be at West Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, August 27th from 7 until 9 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Teresa Roberts, 9560 Poplar Tent Road.

The family would like to thank her caretaker, Mary Jones, the hospice staff, and a special thanks to her nurse, Sylvia Pittman. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the family.
