DR. BRYANT JACKSON CRATTY Passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2008 in Northridge, California.
He was a professor of Physical Education and Kinesiology at UCLA for over 30 years and a well-known expert in the field of movement education, publishing many textbooks used in universities around the world. He was awarded the rank of Professor Emeritus from Northwestern University. Jack was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 9, 1929, and later moved to North Hollywood, where he graduated from high school. He received his Bachelors degree and Doctorate in Education at UCLA. After Jack's retirement, he continued to work with autistic children. He was a world traveler, always bringing back unique gifts for friends and family. He had success in designing and selling custom jewelry. He finally settled down in Brazil, returning to the United States this past September due to ill health.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Dee Cratty Schwartz; son-in-law, David Schwartz; granddaughters, Kira Nicole and Talya Ming Schwartz; brother, James Cratty; sister, Patricia Cratty Taylor; and mother, Edith R. Hooper.
A family memorial gathering will be private.
