Mrs. Beachem worked as a welder at Pullman Standard until her retirement in 1972.
She was a member of the Muddycreek Presbyterian Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution in Butler. She loved to cook, bake and attend aquatic exercise classes. She dearly loved her family who along with her friends will miss her greatly.
Gwen is survived by her husband of 66 years, N. Kenneth Beachem; her brother, Chuck Cranmer and his wife, Darlene, of Saxonburg; her two daughters, Barbara Reynolds and her husband, Robert, and Joan Smaldone, both of Montevallo, Ala., and her son, Dave Beachem and his wife, Vickie, of Clay Township. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
BEACHEM - The friends of Dorothy Gwendolyn "Gwen" Beachem, who passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. An additional viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Muddycreek Presbyterian Church, 341 Muddy Creek Drive, Butler. The funeral services will follow with the Rev. Matt Kail, her pastor officiating, assisted by Paul Cashdollar.
Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
