In the 1900 U.S. Census, grocer Patrick Lannigan 54, born March, 1846 in Canada, father born Canada, mother born Ireland, was living on North Street, Calais, Maine, with Mary, 50, born April 1850 in Canada, parents born Canada; Kate, 21, born June, 1879; stenographer Florence, 16, born June 1883; and Fred, 15, born March 1885, all born in Maine.
The couple had been married for 33 years, and five of their eight children were still living.
Patrick came over in 1866 and Mary in 1867.

In the 1880 U.S. Census, stevedore Patrick Lanigan, 38, born Canada, parents born Ireland, was living in Calais, Maine, with Mary, 32, born Canada, father born Ireland, mother born Canada; William, 13; Franklin, 8; and Catherine, 6, all born in Maine; and Daniel, 3, born Canada.

Mary's maiden name was Crane. She was the daughter of Wm & Catherine (Fitzpatrick) Crane & was born in Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada.
