MARION CRANDALL

MARION MELVIN CRANDALL, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Crandall, was born near Little River, Kansas, January 22, 1910, and departed this life Saturday morning, June 20, 1925; being at that time 15 years, 4 months and 28 days old.

Marion took suddenly ill about two weeks ago with an attack of appendicitis and was taken shortly afterwards to the Sterling hospital where his earthly life ended after a heroic effort had been made to keep him with his loved ones and friends.

His going in the morning of life is but an illustration of how death is trying to seize the young and old and claim them as victims. But our hope is in God and in Him we trust to make all things right here and in eternity.

He was conscious most of the time during his sickness and made suggestions in regard to his funeral which were carried out.

Marion, although of a quiet disposition, was likeable in every respect and possessed a character that was worthy of praise. He was a thoughtful, conscientious boy, never shrinking the responsibility of life. It is, indeed, a great loss to his family and friends that he should be taken from us, but a comforting fact to know that he has joined his brothers who have gone before.

Marion leaves to mourn his loss his father and mother, and his brothers and sisters Fred, Clara, Heber, Paul, Vera and Beulah; and also other relatives and many friends.

The funeral services were conducted from the M. E. Church at 12:30 Sunday afternoon by Rev. George Watts, former pastor at Little River, assisted by Rev. E. L. Nicholson. The attendance was unusually large, a great many being unable to obtain standing room in the church. The body was laid to rest in Bean cemetery.
