Heber K. Crandall, 427 West Emporia, a retired Santa Fe Railroad conductor and resident of Emporia since August, 1941, died Monday evening, October 31, in his home after suffering a heart attack.

He was born Nov. 11, 1899 in Little River, son of Alva and Rhoda Jodon Crandall and was married to Madge L. Smith, Nov. 30, 1924 in Little River.

He was a member of the Methodist Church; a member and past president of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen; a member of the Emporia Masonic Lodge, Chapter, Council and Commandery, Low 12 Club, Santa Fe Masonic Club; Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge and the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees.

Surviving: his wife of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn (JaNelda) Greenlee; two brothers, Fred and Paul, both of Little River; three sisters, Mrs. O. P. (Clara) Guthrie, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. August (Vera) Wahl, Kanorado; and Mrs. Gerald (Beulah) Williams, Lyons; and one granddaughter, Cheryl Lynn Greenlee.

Funeral services were held on Thursday morning in the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel, Rev. Stephen J. Williams, pastor of 1st Congregational Church, Emporia. Masonic services were conducted in the chapel by Emporia Lodge 12, A. F. and A. M. with Gene Bloxom as Master. Members of the Lodge, and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and Auxiliary and of the Entre Nous Club attended in groups.

Out-of-town relatives attending were Iris Ledbetter and Clair Crandall, Wichita; Messrs. and Mmes. Loren Johnson, McPherson; Clair Smith Paul and Norman Crandall, Messrs. Max and Fred L. Crandall, all of Little River; Clara Guthrie, Ina Arnold and Dr. and Mrs. Donald W. Tiffany, of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. August Wahl, Kanorado; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Williams, Lyons, Mr. and Mrs. I. F. Seitz, Newton.

A second service was held in the Congregational Church, conducted by Rev. Wilson. Burial was in the Bean cemetery, Little River.
