Mary Melissa Greenbank, eldest daughter of W. G. and Hester Greenbank, was born in Little River, Kansas. October 28, 1891, and passed away at 3:00 a.m. in the Alva General Hospital, Alva, Oklahoma, June 12, 1952, at the age of 60 years, 7 months and 18 days.

She was united in marriage to H. C. Crandall at Little River, Kansas. March 1, 1914. From there to 1921 they resided in Lyons, Kansas, and Yoder, Kansas. In 1921 they moved to Alva, Oklahoma, and have lived there the past 31 years. Besides her husband, H. C. Crandall, one daughter, Mrs. Frank Morefield, survives.

Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. G. B. Allen Dallas City, Illinois: Mrs. Seth P. Osborn, Dodge City, Kansas; Mrs. Ralph Lea, Harper, Kansas, two brothers, Lester P. Greenbank, Valley Center, Kansas, and James V. Greenbank, El Dorado, Kansas; one granddaughter, Cecilia Morefield,, and one son-in-law, Frank Morefield, of Alva, Oklahoma, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Crandall was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Holly Club, the Alva Research Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Although she was active in club work, she was particularly interested in her church and was, for years, active in the W. S. C. S. as treasurer and the past year president of that organization. Interested in the youth of the church she was superintended of the cradle roll and a teacher in the primary department until failing health compelled her to curtail her activities. During the last war she spent countless hours in Red Cross work.

She was vitally interested in her home and took a great deal of interest in the welfare of her loved ones. Of keen interest to her was the growth of Alva and its institutions, and anyone who knew Mary Crandall was her friend.

Funeral services were held in the First Methodist Church in Alva Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with graveside services and burial in the Little River Cemetery.
