Donald was born Oct. 15, 1922 in Covington, the son of Mont L. and Ruth (Huffer) Crain. Don married Mary Jean Grubb April 5, 1941 at Clarksville, Tennessee and they enjoyed 67 years together until her death on May 20, 2008. His parents and a sister, Dorothy Rhodes, also preceded him in death
Surviving are three sons, Jerry L. (Charlotte) Crain, Bradley D. (Marlea) Crain and Randy (Kathy) Crain; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and a great-great-great grandchild.
He was a 1940 graduate of Covington High School. Don was in the first group drafted for World War II from Fountain County, but was rejected at Indianapolis due to a previous injury. He was employed at the Wabash River Ordinance Works during World War II. He began working with his father in Crain Plumbing & Heating in 1946 and continued in the business until retiring in 1982.
He was a lifelong member of Covington United Methodist Church, a Past Master, and a 71-year member of Fountain Lodge 60 F. & A. M.
