Funeral services for Elzy E. Crain, 67, native of Sikes, who died in a Winnfield hospital Sunday Oct. 19 at 8:30 p.m. following a short illness were held at the Sikes Baptist Church Tuesday morning with Rev. Lewis Holt and Rev. Carter Hall officiating. Burial followed in the Sikes cemetery.

Nephews acted as pallbearers. They were Sharon Parker, Lyndal Gunn, Charles Crain, Ralph Daily, Jenora Claudel, and Herman Green.

A World War One veteran, Mr. Crain was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Crain. At the time of his death he was marshal of the Village of Sikes, which position he had held for the past six years. Prior to that he operated a pressing shop. He was a member of the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife of Sikes, three daughters, Glenda June Crain, Sikes, Mrs. T. P. Hyde, Shreveport, Mrs. Lester Brister, Houston, Tex.; one son, Carmon Crain, Houston and four grandchildren. He also had five sisters, Mrs. Jesse Parker and Mrs. Tom Miller, Sikes, Mrs. Johnnie Wood, Pineville, Mrs. Ott Carroll and Mrs. Bob Gunn, Bentley; four brothers, Sidney Crain, Baton Rouge, H. D. Crain, Fresno, Calif.; Jesse Crain, Pollock and Johnny Crain, Pineville.
