Georgia Maxine Woodard, 86 of Columbus, KS passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Maude Norton Hospital.

Maxine was born January 3, 1922 at Stipville, KS, the daughter of Carl G. and Evangeline (Abbott) Crain. She graduated from CCCHS in 1940 and married James Woodard October 12, 1943.

Maxine was a records clerk at the Parsons Army Ammunition Plant Hospital, worked in the Cherokee County Treasures Office for over 10 years and worked over 20 years in the Winter Insurance Office. She retired in 1977. Maxine was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers C. Byrl Crain and Clarence W. Crain and is survived by her husband Jim of the home, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Friday April 11, 2008 in the Murdock Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Goettel, pastor of the Center Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Park Cemetery under the direction of Murdock Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until service time on Friday. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association with the funeral home serving as custodian.
