Wanda Ruth Craig Battles, who died Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital, was born Jan. 14, 1929, in Decatur to Solon Con and Margaret Lou Ledford Craig. She was a member of East Highland Baptist Church in Hartselle. Her husband of 42 years, Howard N. Battles, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Howard Eugene Battles and wife, Gerita, of Decatur, Donald Ray Battles and wife, Billie, of Lexington, Ky., and Stephen Craig Battles of Decatur; one daughter, Maria Sue Barnett of Fort Myers, Fla.; brother, Sam C. Craig of Montgomery; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
