Birth: 1743
Death: Nov. 13, 1831, USA

"in 88th yr. of her age." from orginal tombstone.
"Wife of David Craig"
From an e-mail Dora Mai Gordon I recieved:
I wrote a book on the Craig family entitled "Hawfield Craigs of North Carolina" and a copy is in the library at Mt. Pleasant and the Maury County Archives in Columbia.
My father was a descendant of the Craig family through his great-grandmother, Eleanor Johnston Craig, who married Jesse M. Gordon in 1827 in Maury County. The Craigs and Gordons were friends and neighbors in Orange County, N.C. as well as Maury County, TN. All of my Craig books sold so don't have anymore.

I chose a rose for Eleanor because that is what she was. I had the stone erected in 2000. Her other stone that covered her grave was nothing but pieces. I had to do something for this grand lady. She is my sixth great grandmother. I wrote an article abou...(Read more)
