The relatives and friends Boyd J. Cox are invited to attend his funeral service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 31, 2009, at Stono Baptist Church, 953 Main Rd. Johns Island. Bural will be at 1:00 PM at Ackerman Cemetery, Cottageville, SC .The family will receive friends this Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home 1620 Savannah Hwy.
Mr. Cox was born in Whitesville, NC the son of Ethridge Cox and Vera Ward Cox on Sunday, September 25, 1932. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a Boy Scout Troop Leader and was a retired sheet metal mechanic with A & R Sheet Metal and Triad Mechanical Company. Mr. Cox was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and shrimping. He always took time to visit the sick, the elderly and those who were shut in.
Surviving are his daughter, Wanda C. Thomas and her husband , Mike of Jamestown, two brothers, Gary Cox and Robert Cox, three sisters, Pat Sellers, Diane Shelley and Alice Cox.
