Georgia Deaths, 1919-98
Name: Mrs Nancy C Adcock
Death Date: 12 Oct 1933
County of Death: Walton
Certificate: 30099

Mrs. Rufus Adcock died at home on Wednesday: Last Wednesday, at her home in the Union Chapel community, this county, after an illness that she had borne with sublime fortitude for two years, death claimed Mrs. Nancy Adcock, the beloved consort of Rufus F. Adcock, and the devoted, true daughter of W. F. and Polly Ann Malcom Cox, pioneer citizens of this county -- a people who, because of their signal uprightness, wrought faithfully and well.

Mrs. Adcock was a native of this county and was blessed with 75 beautiful and fruitful years-- years in which she ever sought, as a member of the Union Chapel Methodist church, to exert an inspiring, helpful influence-- as wife, mother, sister, neighbor and friend. She died as she had lived for a long time, in the triumphs of the faith that anchored her until the end.

On the brow of a majestic hill, not far from Mount Paron church, a plat selected some eighty years ago by the thoughtful sire, the funeral rites were conducted Friday afternoon and were in charge of her paster, Rev. J. E. Holbrook, and the writer, and were witnessed by a host of relatives and friends, and the more eventful for the wealth of beautiful flowers and choice songs, favorites of the deceased, sung by a select choir and led by Mr. Holbrook. Six young men, grandsons of the deceased, served as pallbearers.

Besides her husband, who through the years, stood so affectionately and serviceably by her, this noble woman leaves the following children: T. B. Adcock, Blasingame district; Mrs. C. E. Cardell , of Atlanta; Mrs. W. L. Darby, of Albany. She leaves 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and one brother, Mr. George Cox, a splendid citizen of Social Circle, to all of whom The News extends its full measure of affectionate sympathy.
