Mrs. J. A. Cox, Church Worker
Mrs. J. Alexander Cox, who was recording secretary for the Greater Philadelphia Council of Churches for eight years, died Friday in the Leader Nursing Home, Yeadon. The former Beatrice Wiest, she was 70 and lived at 242 S. 51st. St.
In addition to her volunteer work for the council, Mrs. Cox was a secretary for the Philadelphia Board of Education for more than 20 years. She retired from the school job in 1963.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband, a retired Bell Telephone Co. engineer; her mother, Mrs. F. Nevin Wiest; two brothers Frederick and Wayne Wiest, and three sisters, Mrs. Richard Donecker, Mrs. Russell Ross and Dorothy Wiest.
Services will be at 2 P.M. Tuesday in the Oliver Bair Funeral Home, West Chester pike, Havertown. Burial will be in West Laurel Hill Cemetery.
