May was one of eight children, born December 11, 1924 in Bellingham to Louis and Reah May (Mose) Cowan. She grew up on Lummi Island where she lived for 47 years, then made her home in Everson, where she spent most of the remainder of her life.
She enjoyed her garden and flowers and took great pride in mowing her three acres of lawn. She loved the old time western music, some of which she sang from memory to her children and grandchildren up until a day before her passing. Gene Autry was her favorite cowboy. The most important thing to her though, was her family and she will be greatly missed.
May was preceded in death by her husband, John Corcoran; grandson, David; and longtime friend and companion, Jim Keehn; brothers: Stanley, Louis and Walter; and sister, June.
May's final resting place will be at the Lummi Island Cemetery and a celebration of life will be held on the Island in the spring of 2016.
