Opal Brand, 89, of Sherman died Wednesday morning at Sherman Health Care
Center. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. James Nance officiating. Burial is in Money Cemetery.
Born April 20, 1912, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Mac
Covington and Pearl Covington. She was married to Julius Lee Brand on April
12, 1928, in Celeste.
Mrs. Brand was a nurse's aide and she was a Baptist.
She is survived by sons Jackie Brand of Greenville, Mickey Brand of
Sherman, L.J. Brand of Odessa, Richard Lee Brand of California and Paul
James Brand of Greenville; two daughters, Lennie Mae Braden of Denton and
Betty Joe Jones of Pryor, Okla.; 34 grandchildren and 44
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, three sisters, three
sons, two daughters and three grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
