Willie Merle Coulter, 83, of Eddy passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in Temple. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, at First Baptist Church of Moody with the Rev. Mickey Fugitt and the Rev. David Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Moody Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 9 at Cole Funeral Home.

Willie Merle was born Willow Grove, Texas, to the late Clemmie William and Velma Audrey (Richardson) Morris. At the age of 12, she began playing the piano at Willow Grove Baptist Church where later she worked with children in Vacation Bible School. She received her education in Willow Grove and was a 1936 graduate of Moody High School. On June 1, 1940, she married Harry Orestus Coulter at her home in Willow Grove. She later became a member of First Baptist Church of Moody where she was a member of the Esther Class and was organist for many years. Lake Air Interiors in Waco, employed her as a saleslady and interior decorator until her retirement in 1987. After her retirement, she was employed by Moody Furniture as a sales lady until the store closed in 2005. Music has been an important part of Mrs. Coulter's life and for 71 years, she has played musical instruments. She also enjoyed sewing, animals and being with family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Harry, on March 28, 1978.

Survivors include her son, Anthony Coulter and wife, Dalta, of Moody; daughter, Nancy Lynn, of Eddy; grandchildren, Amber Burns and husband, David, Adam Lynn, Zachary Coulter, Patrick Coulter; and three great-grandchildren, Aleah Burns, Bella Burns and Clara Burns; sisters, LaNelle Howerton, of Waco, Catherine Poe and husband, John, and Clarine Lynch and husband, Harold, all of Moody, Oveta Bolt and husband, Clark, and Annette Jones and husband, Bud, all of Woodway, Virginia Gero and husband, Harry, of San Antonio; and many other family members and friends.
