Annie Ruth Black, 92, of Davie, Florida, formerly of Villa Rica, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, in Willow Manor Retirement Home, Dania, Florida.

She was born in Carroll County on March 26, 1919, the daughter of the late William Franklin Couch and the late Mitney Peek Couch. She lived her entire lifetime in Villa Rica, except for the years 1941-1944 when her husband was in the military, and they lived in Florida, Virginia, Louisiana and Texas. In 2001, she moved to Florida to be nearer to her son. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica for more than sixty-five years, attended the Fidelis Sunday School Class and served as secretary for many years, attended the Edna Teal Circle for fifty-four years, served with the Tanner Pink Ladies in Villa Rica and Carrollton with 41,000 hours of volunteer service, was a member of the Carroll County Homemakers Club, the Villa Rica Eastern Star, serving as treasurer and other offices thru the years, and in her spare time delivered the Atlanta newspaper for many years. She also owned and operated the Villa Rica Bus Station for many years, serving as clerk and ticket agent.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Frank Black, Sr., two sisters, Mamie Woodall and Erma Kilgore, and three brothers, Arlie Couch, Raymond Couch and Fillmore Couch.

Survivors include her son, James Frank (Jim) Black, Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Davie, Florida; two grandchildren, Caron Angela Black Davis of Senoia and Christopher Ryan Black of Villa Rica; one great granddaughter, Caitlyn Ashlee Davis; two great grandsons, Hunter Nicolas Davis and Robert James (R.J.) Black; one step-grandson, Chris Brewer and his wife, Kelly; three step great granddaughters, Samantha Brewer, Daniele Brewer and Georgie Brewer; and her ex-daughter-in-law, and the mother of her grandchildren, Cathy Grier of Douglasville.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of the J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Pilgreen officiating. Music will also be provided by Rev. Ben Pilgreen. Pallbearers will be Rex Bell, Christopher Black, James Davis, Christopher Brewer and Dave Isbel. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Villa Rica.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, May 6, 2011, from 5:00-8:00 P.M.
