Barbara J. Cottom, 79, of Lewis, died at her residence Jan. 3, 2010.
Born in Terre Haute, on June 14, 1930, she was the daughter of Gordon and Ruth (Chambers) Jones. She was a homemaker her entire life. She was a 1948 graduate of the former Blackhawk High School.
She loved to play bingo and going to flea markets.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; an adult brother, Herschel Jomes; and a grandson, Gregory. Her husband, Donald L. Cottom Sr., also preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 2001.
She is survived by her children, Doug Cottom and his wife Tonyia of Terre Haute, Dave Cottom and his wife Cheryl of Lewis, Donnie Cottom Jr. and his wife Debbie of Lewis, and Candy Sue Gilbert and her husband Babe of Worthington. There are 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She had been a member of the Clay City American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive. Burial will be at Stephens Cemetery in Lewis. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
