Death Claims John C. Cotner
John C. Cotner, 81, 117 E. Roselawn Dr., was dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital at 7:52 a.m. Tuesday. Born Sept. 20,1897, in Logansport, he was the son of James R. and Rose A. Cogley Cotner. He was married to Margaret Bauer on Aug. 24,1918, in Logansport. She survives. A retired industrialist and former president of the Logansport Machine Co., he had served as director and treasurer of the National Machine Tool Builders Association, a member of the board of directors and chairman of the machinery division of the National Plastics Institute of America, president of Consolidated Industries of Lafayette, president of Hydraulic Press Manufacturing Co. in Mount Gilead, Ohio, and treasurer of City Beverage Co. One of the founders of WSAL radio station and president from 1949-52, he was a member of the board of trustees at the Neal Home and president from 1970 75. He was a member of the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church, a past master of the Tipton Masonic Lodge, a past president of the Logansport Shrine Club, a member of the Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite, the Mizpah Shrine Temple of Fort Wayne, the Royal Order of Jesters of Fort Wayne, Fidelity Chapter No. 58 Order of the Eastern Star and Logansport chapter No. 2, Council No. 11 and Commandery No. 24 of the Masonic York Rite. Surviving with the wife are two sons, James R., Bloomington, and John T., 203-26th St; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Roberts, 938 Michigan Ave.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A daughter, Peggy, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Tipton Masonic Lodge services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
