The Brazil Daily Times, Wednesday, 5 May 1971 - Cletis A. Cornwell, 58, R. R. 1, (N. 58), Brazil, was found dead on a clay pile embankment by workman at the Marion Brick Corp. this morning. Cornwell, a heavy equipment operator for the Log Cabin Coal Co., was on a job assignment at the brick plant when he apparently suffered a heart attack about 20 minutes before Marion employees made the discovery. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Clay County Hospital at 10:15 a.m. The deceased man had been hospitalized in February for a complete physical check-up and had retured to work last Thursday.

Mr. Cornwell was a native of Petersburg, Ind. He was born on Oct. 27, 1912, a son of the late Frank and Edith (Fox) Cornwell and came to Brazil at the age of 16 to reside with grandparents. On Feb. 26, 1935, he was united in marriage to the former Ruby Hadley of this city. Their home is located on the west side of SR 59, just south of the Otter Creek valley. Mr. Cornwell was a member of the Fairview Christian Church in Dick Johnson Township.

Surviving besides the wife, Ruby, are two daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Janice) Van Blaricum, Indianapolis, and Miss Judy Cornwell, at home, and two grandchildren. Other survivors are four sisters, Mrs. James Booth, Clarkston, Mich.; Mrs. Leo Byzewski, Walled Lake, Mich.; Mrs. J. C. Clements, Clearwater, Fla., and Mrs. Charles L. McCune, Louisville, Ky., and several neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bert Cornwell, in Petersburg. Arrangements are pending at Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

The Brazil Daily Times, Thursday, 6 May 1971 - Services for Cletis A. Cornwell, 58, R.R. 1, Brazil, will be conducted in Miller and Sons Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Saturday Bro. Harry Holloway, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate with interment to follow in Stunkard Cemetery. Mr. Cornwell, an employee of the Log Cabin Coal Co., died suddenly Wednesday morning while working on a contractual assignment at the Marion Brick Co. Plant. Fellow employees of Mr. Cornwell's will serve as casket bearers for the funeral services.
