Bio on Bryant Corley from the Shelby County Historical Book

Bryant Corley was born February 2, 1850 one of the two sons of Nathaniel and Chloe Corley. Bryant was prominent in the development of the agricultural business, social and religious interest of Shelby county, Illinois and was best known in the Westervelt community. Bryant Corley was reared to work on the farm and for about ten years prior to his fathers death had taken charge of all matters pertaining to the family homestead. In 1905 he came to Westervelt where he has since been located and is living retired, although he serves as Notary Public and Justice of the peace. Although not a politician he is a staunch Democrat. He joined the United Brethren church at the age of twelve years and has been connected therewith to the present time
In 1870 Mr. Corley was married to Nancy Brinker, daughter of John Brinker who died August 30, 1905 having been the mother of six children namely: Mary, the wife of T. J. Duckett, died at the age of twenty nine years, Naomi who married Dexter Smith of Okaw Township, Lydia Ellen, wife of Robert Bryant of Colorado Springs,Colo, Elson O. of Westevelt for ten years teacher in Shelby county, Etta M. at home and Edith who married Alfred Cordray, residing on Mr. Corleys farm in Pickaway township.
