Alberta Pickup Corless, 62, died at her home in Provo, Utah, Saturday [June 1, 1974] after an extended illness.
She was born [April 7, 1912] in Vernal, Utah, to Clarence Ray and Celestia Vilate "Laty" Batty Pickup. She married Arthur Raymond "Ray" Corless Nov. 8, 1912, in Vernal. He died in 1958.
She was educated in the Vernal schools. She moved with husband and family to Idaho for several years. They returned to Provo in 1947. She worked in the Provo schools lunch program for 15 years.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she taught Primary, Scouting and in the MIA. She served as a Relief Society visiting teacher in the Oak Hills Second Ward. She was serving as ward librarian at the time of her death.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters: Clifford Corless, Clark Corless, both of Provo; LaJean Stark (John), San Diego, California; Merlene Reeder (James R.), Stockton, California; and Frances Lee Kieffer (Rusty P.), Van Nuys, California; three sisters and one brother: Grace McConkie (Don L.), Helen Erekson (Clinton), Georgia Rae Bills (George), and Clair B. Pickup, all of Provo.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, noon at the Walker Mortuary in Provo. Friends may call at the mortuary Monday, 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, prior to the services. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
