"The Lord has called home a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Luz C. Cazares, a longtime Douglas resident, went to be with her Lord September 14, 2005 at her home.
Mrs. Cazares was born January 16, 1920 in Las Chispas, Sonora, Mexico to Ramon and Isabel Del Cid Cordova.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tony. She was a devoted homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Luz is survived by her husband of 61 years, Antonio Cazares. Children, Luz Evelia (Eduardo) Vargas, Elva (Kito) Carbajal, Jorge Luis (Sylvia) Cazares, Alma Lydia (Jesus) Romero, JoAnn Cazares (Alfonso) and Ruben (Vivi) Cazares. Also surviving are her sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Sisters, Maria Cordova, Eva Alvarez and Lupe Cordova. Brothers, Jorge, Guillermo and Ramon Cordova.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2005 at St. Luke's Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2005 at St. Luke's Church with Father Gilbert Malu officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers who will serve are Jorge Luis Cazares, Ruben Cazares, Eduardo Vargas, Kito Carbajal, Jesus Romero, Alfonso Hurtado, Tony Romero and Ruben Cazares, Jr.
She has left us with a legacy of giving and caring heart. One can only attempt to emulate her love for life."
