Mrs. Julia Cooke
Gloucester- Mrs. Julia Cooke died at the home of her sister in Baltimore Tuesday afternoon, where she had gone for a visit. Mrs. Cooke was a prominent citizen of her community and one of the pillars in the Smithfield Baptist church where she was director of the choir and an officer of the church auxiliary. For many years past she was a teacher of the Sunday school division and aided in all activities of her neighborhood.
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock in the Smithfield Baptist church with Rev. M. A. Boyd, pastor, officiating. The body arrived on Sunday morning on the boat, with her husband, Joseph Cooke, and only sister accompanying the remains. Several distant relatives also came to the county to attend the funeral. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
