ELLEN AMELIA COOPER, 92, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at Vindobona Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Charles N. Cooper. She was born July 27, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Mae Painter of Lovettsville, Va.

Ellen was retired from Vindobona Nursing Home and worked there as a certified nursing assistant for 48 years. She was a loving person and a Mum Maw to many. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judy Cooper of Knoxville, and Peggy Lewis of Brunswick; and her six grandchildren. She is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; three sisters, Annie Koontz of Jefferson, Evelyn Ayres of Shannondale, WV, and Maxine Hamilton of Purcellville, Va.; and a brother, Renace Painter of Lovettsville, Va.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Clinton; two brothers, Eugene Painter and William Painter; two sisters, Mildred Dawson and Ethel Brady Gordon; and numerous in-laws.

At the request of Ellen, there will be no viewing. A celebration of life for family and friends was held at the home of Deanna Bauer, Knoxville. A private burial will be held at a later date.
