Mrs. Cook passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, with her family by her side.
Interment will be at Rock Creek Cemetery under direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Betty was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Hastings to Ralph Mac and Ethel McLemore Brooks. A resident of Duncan for 40 years, she moved to Duncan from Waurika when she was 12 years old. She married Gerald while she was still in high school and lived in the area for the next six years. She traveled the U.S. with the military until 1975. Betty married Gerald Cook on Feb. 5, 1944. She was a homemaker and wife for 65 years. She was a mother to four children and a grandmother to 17 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald, of the home; sons: Ralph Edwin and wife Eddy Cook, Amarillo, Texas; Roland A. and Macquain Cook, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Richard M. and Carol Cook, Plano, Texas; a daughter; Rebecca L. Becci and husband Jim Murtha, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ethel Brooks; and a brother, Chester Mac Brooks.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jason Murtha, Russell Cook, Garrett Cook, Brady Cook, Ben Cook and Jerry Wayne Cook.
