WOLCOTT — Helen (Conway) Butler, 86, died at Wolcott View Manor on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012. She was the widow of William Butler.

She was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Waterbury, daughter of the late John J. and Margaret (Galvin) Conway. She grew up and lived on Washington Hill for many years. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Grammar School and Wilby High School, class of 1944. She was a member of the Waterbury Elks Club, Irish American Social Club and the Daughters of Erin.

Helen was the office manager of H.J. Carroll Coal and Oil Co. After her retirement, she worked for Biener's Sport Shop. She loved to spend time with family and friends and touched the lives with everyone she met. She loved to share stories about her Irish heritage.

She is survived by two brothers, Thomas F. Conway Sr. and wife, Irene, of Waterbury, Patrick J. (P.J.) Conway Sr. and wife, Lucille, of Middlebury; many loving nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John P. Conway, and two sisters, Margaret (Conway) (Casey) Shugrue and Maureen (Conway) Iava.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wolcott View Manor, especially North 2, for the kindness and compassion she received during her stay.

The funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 9, at St. Francis Xavier Church from Deliniks-Conway Funeral Home, 17 Congress Ave., Waterbury, for a Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
