The funeral of Mrs. Anna Hewitt was held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from her late residence, 492 West State street.
The services were conducted by Rev. John Scarborough, bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey, and Rev. W. Strother Jones, D. D., rector of St,. Michael's Episcopal Church of which Mrs. Hewitt had long been a member.
The pall bearers were Joseph H. Wright, Charles E. Hewitt, a nephew, Dr. William Mumper, a son-in-law, and four sons, William, Robert, Charles and Conrad Hewitt.
The interment, which was private was in the family plot at Mercer Cemetery.
Mrs. Hewitt, who before her marriage with the late Charles Hewitt, was Miss Anna Conrad, of Philadelphia, was 76 years of age. Her father was Solomon White Conrad, professor of botany at the University of Pennsylvania, and her mother, before marriage, was Miss Elizabeth Abbott, who resided near Crosswicks in Burlington County.
Besides the four sons, two daughters and a granddaughter survive Mrs. Hewitt. The daughters are Mrs. William Mumper, wife of Prof. Mumper of the State Schools, and Miss Louisa Hewitt. The granddaughter is Miss Edna Scudder, whose mother is now deceased."
