BURL LEE CONLEY

Burl L. Conley, 81, lifetime resident of the Grande Ronde Valley, died Friday.
Conley was born on October 22, 1890 in Union County, the son of Rose Ann and Edwin Conley. He attended school at Red Pepper School and one year at Weston Normal School. He farmed in the Cove area for many years.
He was a member of the La Grande Elks Lodge No. 433 and the Cove Sportsmans Club. Survivors include his daughters, Nadine Stoop of Portland, and Nadene Simpson, Quincy, Wash.; four grandchildren; one great grandson; sister Mrs. Grover (Stella) Grimmett, La Grande, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife Thalia on June 22, 1968, and two brothers, Tuck Conley in 1965 and Jay Conley in 1967. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clarence Kopp and the La Grande Elks Lodge officiating. Vault interment will follow at the Island City Cemetery.
