Estella Cone Atkinson, 88, died Thursday, March 13, at the Statesboro Nursing Home. The Bulloch County native was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church where she served as church secretary, choir member and president of the Mission Department. She was president of the Women's Department of the 4th District of the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Association, was a member of the L.B. Lodge #125 and the W.M.B.S. Society of the Hutchinson Longstreet Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Lawrence, Portal, and Alice Smith, Savannah; two brothers, Remer Cone and Gordon Cone, both of Statesboro; four stepdaughters, Juanita McNeal, Pulaski, Ida R. Atkinson and Annie K. Stubbs, both of Miami, Fla., and Sharlene Robinson, Register; six stepsons, Robert Atkinson and George Atkinson, both of Miami, Fla., Walter Atkinson Jr., Metter, James Atkinson and Seth Atkinson, both of Statesboro, and Ernest Atkinson, Las Vegas, Nev.; two granddaughters, Gwendolyn Moody, New York City, N.Y., and Brenda Coleman, Augusta; two grandsons, Lavan Sawyer, Savannah, and Bernard Sawyer, Atlanta; seven great-grandchildren, 30 step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren,

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. W.M. Daniels officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
