Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel J. Eddy, 84, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Christian church. Rev. Theodore Forbes will officiate and interment will be at Balcom cemetery. Mrs. Eddy of 346 East Washington died at her residence on Monday morning. She was born June 10, 1886, in Pierre, S.D., the daughter of George and Jennie Corlis Comstock and when five moved with the family to Michigan where they lived in the New Haven Center area prior to coming to Ionia.

She was a graduate of Ionia high school in 1908. until 1910 she worked for Michigan Bell Telephone company. June 29, 1910 she was married in Ionia to Albert Eddy and made her home in Fenwick before moving back to Ionia in 1928 where she made her home since.

Her husband preceded her in death June 4, 1960, five days after their 50th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Eddy began work in 1935 at Stevenson's department store until 1945 when she went to work in the city clerk's office as water department clerk retiring from there in 1956. From then until 1962 she worked for Stephenson's successors. She was a member of First Christian church, charter member of the Bethany circle and church historian many years.

She is survived by one daughter, Helen of Ionia.

Mrs. Eddy will be at Boynton-Leddick funeral home until time for services. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 until 9 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for First Christian church.
