Jerry K. Coltrane, 72, of Draper, VA, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2009. He was born January 17, 1937, in Pulaski County, and he was the son of the late Ida Ruth Coltrane and Richard Coltrane. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James "Jimmy" Coltrane and Donald "Butch" Coltrane. Jerry served in the United States Air Force and the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. After serving his country, he was employed by Klopman Mills, Newbern, VA. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking. Jerry is survived by a loving family, including his devoted wife of 48 years, Lavie Young Coltrane, Draper; two daughters, Linda K. Busick and her husband, John, Madison, NC, and Sue K. Coffield and her husband, Charles, Moundsville, WV; five grandchildren, Leslie D. Smothers, Suzanne M. Kinney, Kenny Hurst and his wife, Audrey, Kevin Hurst and his wife, Bridget, and Gary Hurst and his wife, Char; ten greatgrandchildren, Kasey Jarrell, Chase and Garrett Kinney, Kelly, Katie and Kyle Epperly, Brittney, Amanda, Abigail, and Audrey Hurst; brother, David Coltrane and his wife, Vivian; sister, Linda C. Aikman; several nieces and nephews, and cousins; and uncle, Bill Coltrane. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Monday, September 21, 2009, from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
